Bristol Bikers Set Sights on Barcelona

This year group have set themselves a tough personal challenge to help raise money for a very valid cause - Cancer Research UK.
 
In June Gary & Ginette and Stuart  together with Rob Britton & Gary Edwards will be undertaking a charity bike ride - cycling from Bristol to Barcelona – 2,500km (1,550 miles) over 21 days with no rest days, which will include cycling 9 days in the Pyrenees.  During this trip we will climb approx 40,000 metres or 131,233 feet.
 
When we reach the Pyrenees on day 10 we will have 27 Cols to cycle over which have featured in the Tour de France.  We will be climbing an average of 3,028 metres each day for the following 9 days.
 
Please donate as much as you can, all money raised will go to Cancer Research UK.  We do these crazy challenges to raise money for great causes and it really helps us when we are suffering to know our efforts are helping those less fortunate than ourselves because believe me we are going to have many days of suffering to overcome.

BDA Photo Competition

The BDA have launched a photo comptition and on their first example see if you recognise the two below.

Photo Competitions: send us in your photos! Dragon Line is offering not 1 but 2 quarterly photo competitions!

There will be a category for those aged 18 and over together with another for those aged under 18. Both will offer a prize but for the 18 and over category it will be a £25 gift voucher for WHSmith whilst for the under18’s it will be a £25 iTunes voucher.  Contributions can be anything from the artistic and creative or action packed, to the just plain spontaneous and funny.

Announcing The Bristol Outdoors Show 9th June 2012 - Join Bristol Empire DRagons at this Event
The first fully fledged outdoors activity and sports show for Bristol and the South West.
On the 9th June of this year the West Country Water Park in Bradley Stoke, Bristol, will play host to the first fully fledged outdoors activity and sports show in the South West. Allowing visitors from all walks of life, both adults and children, to experience first hand everything from Climbing & Mountain Biking, all the way through to Kayaking, Dragon Boating, Stand Up Paddle Boarding and much more!
For the cost of a single ticket per person, the show will be offering the chance for visitors to take part in the most popular outdoors activities available today, as well as spectacular demonstrations from the Freestyle Asylum Jet Ski Demo Team and talks by top celebrity adventurers such as Andy Torbet, Dave Cornthwaite, and Christine Grosart.
Exclusively the show will be hosting the British Open Bathtubbing Championships where competitors compete for the fastest time around a set water course while paddling a specially modified bathtub! This, and many more competitions are open for all visitors who purchase an activity ticket to take part in.
Alongside the spectacular demonstrations and activities many of the worlds top outdoors brands will be at the show showing off their latest kit.
The Bristol Outdoors Show aims to be a day out for the entire family.
