Sunday 17th June - Bristol Charity Event - Good Luck to all the teams that we trained

Friday, 15 June 2012 12:41

Bristol Empire Dragons will not be training on Sunday 17th June morning as they will be supporting the charity dragon boat event in Bristol http://www.bristolbreakfastclub.co.uk/

Good luck to all those teams that came for a training session - it's down to you now and a positive approach and cool heads.  Let's hope the weather is better than last year.

For anyone who enjoyed the training and anyone who enjoyed the racing why not take the next step and join Bristol's only Premier League Dragon Boat Team - you can socialise, train race at league standard or have us train you to GB standard.  We are a friendly group of individuals who train hard and race hard but find time to play.  We also do a number of challenges throughout the year raising money for charities - currently 5 members are cycling to Barcelona for Cancer Research UK and will be taking in all the hills of the Pyrenees on route, there's also a group that go off skiing and the usual challenge down or up a river somewhere.

At high water in the afternoon of Sunday 3 June 2012, up to a thousand boats muster on the River Thames in preparation for Her Majesty The Queen to lead the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant. It will be one of the largest flotillas ever assembled on the river. Rowed boats and working boats and pleasure vessels of all shapes and sizes will be beautifully dressed with streamers and Union Jacks, their crews and passengers turned out in their finest rigs. The armed forces, fire, police, rescue and other services are all afloat and there are an exuberance of historic boats, wooden launches, steam vessels and other boats of note including Bristol Empire Dragons one of only a handfull of Dragon Boats
